28.11.11

So, last Thursday was not only Thanksgiving but also my friend Jon's birthday. So our friend Becky rented a private party room and organized a J-pop themed party. It was a lot of fun.

He was surprised!

Really!

Jamila and Dave both came. They had a lot of fun, too.

Everyone was glad to meet them after having heard me talk about them so much. (This is the birthday boy!)

John thought Bots was a riot.

Karaoke/Noraebang fun was had by all. Devon and I sang 99 Red Balloons.

Jamila and I serenaded everyone with Party in the USA.

Everyone loves Prince.

Hannah was glad Jamila didn't want to go to Ho Bar IV either.

A lovely way to spend a Thursday night.

Giving Thanks for Seoul's Foreign Food Mart

I made quinoa and mock duck vegetable stuffing and some vegan gravy.

My coworker, Sarah, contributed her fabulous pasta salad even though she couldn't come.

 Jon made deviled eggs.

Kelly Katharine made puppy chow!!!! OMG.

I helped Nick make a curried tofu and cranberry spinach salad with cranberry vinaigrette.

Tadhg slaved for hours over this fried chicken. And mashed potatoes were out in force.

The night ended with us too stuffed to remove ourselves from the couch. A sure sign of Thanksgiving success!

Cheonggyecheon Lantern Festival

Tonight, my friend Nick and I went to the Cheonggye Stream to push our way through some crowds and look at a stream full of lanterns.

Chinese Hotpot

Tonight for my language exchange, Jaeyeon took me to get Chinese hotpot in Hongdae. It was seriously delicious, but so spicy that my stomach is still burning.

Jaeyeon.

Seoraksan

While Mom and Dad were here, we went to Seoraksan National Park to climb around a bit and see some fall foliage. The weather was not the best, but we did get to wear sweet ponchos.

Dad bought himself a "trekking hat."

A very friendly drunk old man agreed to take a picture of us but neglected to capture any of the Buddha statue.

Small-face imnida!

Mantlepiece photo I.

Mantlepiece photo II.

We cheated and took the cable car up.

Becky and I climbed really steep rocks.

Really.

It was fall!

And if you were not cautious you could fall off the mountain into the clouds.

Becky and I climbed to the peak. Which was actually kind of terrifying, but the ajoshi at the top lauded our efforts.

The fam. Minus Embots. :(

Bots, Becky and I are proud to have conquered the mountain.

Fall!

Bots and I frolicked.

Best way to finish a hike is with galbi. Duh.

Mom and Dad in Asia! Chopsticks!

Seorak Beach was lovely. And we are really cute. <3
